La Olympus OM-D E-M10 IV è una fotocamera Micro Quattro Terzi entry-level con un sensore Live MOS da 20 Megapixel e stabilizzazione dell'immagine interna al corpo. Offre un display LCD adatto ai selfie che può essere ribaltato per affrontare il soggetto, con controlli dedicati sul display per una facile ripresa. La fotocamera offre anche un mirino elettronico OLED da 2,36 milioni di punti. A differenza dei precedenti modelli E-M10, il Mark IV può caricare la batteria tramite USB. La durata della batteria è superiore alla media.

La fotocamera ha un sistema di messa a fuoco automatica con rilevamento del contrasto a 121 punti. Può scattare raffiche fino a 15 fps (5 fps con autofocus continuo), con un buffer profondo e tempi di scrittura rapidi quando si utilizzano schede SD UHS-II. La E-M10 IV ha una modalità Auto capace, 28 modalità scena e numerosi filtri creativi. Ha un discreto (ma non schiacciante) set di controlli manuali. La E-M10 IV può acquisire video 4K fino a 30p. Il video ad alta velocità a 120 fps è disponibile solo in HD (1280 x 720).
